Serial Link is a shareware software keyboard "wedge" program for Windows.

Serial input can be captured from bar code scanners, scales, controllers or other serial devices. Serial Link can convert serial input into keystrokes that can be fed directly into an application in the same manner that a “wedge” converts serial scanner input to keystrokes. Serial Link can additionally record serial data to a text file or can transmit it to another application using DDE. 

Version 3 enhancements include the capability to poll a serial device for data or to send a start-up initialization communication. Serial data may be massaged or formatted for instance to insert additional characters or fields such as a date and time stamp or to remove control characters.

Serial Link also provides a test mode that simplifies debugging of communication problems. You may use the test mode to test your serial port setting by displaying the received data to the screen or you may simulate serial input in order to test you output settings.
